Capelet 'N Baseball

I finished the capelet and I really don't like it.  So I'm starting it over again.  I am going with smaller hook and yarn.  I do like it better so far.  I am going to re-write the directions for the changes I'm making which really aren't significant.  I'll post them with the finished item here when I'm done.  Here is where I am so far:

I'm using Bernat Bamboo Natural with a "J" hook.  I like this better so far.  I think the Homespun was too bulky for this capelet. I can wear it but I think my sister would be lost in it.

Please see this one progress at:

Also I am changing the shawl again.  I am going to use Homespun (Lion Brand) in Quartz and make another triangle, garter stitch shawl.  Its only got 22 rows on it so its too small to post yet.  The super chunky I was using is pretty and the shawl is really warm but not really what I had in mind.  I will finish it and give it to mom another day.

So, JOY, Rangers beat Rays in the series and are advancing.  My DH and I jumped up and down in our living room when they won.  I am so excited to have a team in the playoffs again!!!

I think I'm finally over the Yarn-Over trauma. That was really depressing.  As I progress with the socks I find I do not notice the YO as much.  I didn't get the additional inch on the legs of the socks this weekend as planned.  I did get the four quilts for my nieces squared and I helped my mom tie a quilt for my cousin (its so cute and funny, its an arrangement of traditional quilt blocks with University of Georgia fabric mixed in) .  I also, made DH's sweater look like something (about 20 rows now).  I worked on it a bit while the Rangers played Tuesday night.  Its easier to watch baseball and knit than any other sport, except maybe NASCAR, maybe that's cause I don't really watch NASCAR, lol.

So I guess the plan for my birthday weekend is to:

Get that extra inch on the Socks (624 st)
Get the Garter Shawl to 40 rows (589 st)
Complete the newest version of the crochet capelet
Get another 20 rows on the sweater (2000 st)
Attach the binding to the 4 quilts
Make sandwiches and fruit cups for the homeless shelter.

Here's a thought, I could turn that prayer shawl into a sweater...hmmmm.  that would be really snuggly and warm.  Its made of 3-stitch offset garter stitches.  And its already 15 inches long....maybe DH gets that one instead.  Its been prayed with alot so it couldn't hurt.
